Living in the East Coast certainly has its shares of ups and downs. But lately, nothing else has been really “down” than the temperature outside (get it? is that a pun or a word play? meh, but it’s currently 18°F). From the constant subzero temperatures, and that bomb cyclone, we’ve truly had a harsh winter. If that’s not bad enough, the drop in temperature leaves my skin vulnerable to drying and flaking. But no worries! I’ve got some products + tips in my arsenal that I want to share to restore the glow back and solve these main skin care concerns.
FACE + LIPS
I found that layering a serum underneath your moisturizer deeply hydrates the skin. The last step is to apply face oil, it acts as a barrier to lock the moisture in. I absolutely love the Biossance Squalene + Vitamin C Rose Oil. This face oil is great for all skin-types, especially if you have sensitive skin due to rosacea, like me. If you’re feeling extra, you can also spritz your favorite face mist after! For my girls with oily or combination skin, I suggest just using the serum and face oil. Finish it off with lip balm like Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm or Dior’s Lip Glow for moisturized, kissable lips with a pop of color.
To get that extra boost of hydration for the week, I apply a sheet mask on the weekends. I usually do it when I’m relaxing, reading a book or catching up on my favorite shows. There are tons of masks available out there, but I have the Boscia sheet mask from their Tsubaki line.
The key to taking care of the body’s largest organ is to exfoliate and moisturize well. In the shower, take a scoop of your exfoliator and massage in circular motions to remove dead skin cells. After the shower, lather yourself all-over with lotion or body butter (my fave at the moment is Burt’s Bees!). On top of that, don’t forget to carry a hand cream in your bag for daily touch-ups.
These winter months our skin calls for extra tender loving care to keep that glow year-round. I hope that some of these products and tips will also become a staple in your winter skin care routine!
Also, what are your fave skin care products for the winter? I’d love to hear what works for your skin! xo
